I thought I’d start the year by looking back over the last 12 months and then looking ahead to 2026. 2025 has been a bit of an indifferent year, some good bits, some not so good.

Over the last year:

• I went electric and bought a new car. I’ll share more thoughts on that in a future post.
• I rediscovered my love of photographing fast jets and things that go whooosh.
• I applied for a promotion at work and didn’t get it. That turned out to be a bit of a wake-up call and made me realise that the corporate IT world and management in particular, really isn’t for me. A career change may well be on the horizon.
• I rebuilt this blog using a new CMS and finally learned Git. That alone has made my website workflow far smoother and removed the pain of running this site.

So, bollocks to the last year, let’s look forward instead. Here are a few things I’m hoping to focus on over the next 12 months:

• Relaunch my photography site, including YouTube. I really enjoyed that side of things.
• Lose some weight. It’s something I’ve always struggled with and need to tackle properly.
• Make a change in my career. I still love IT, just not all the corporate nonsense that comes with big business, too much ego, not enough enjoyment.

Write a lot more on this site. I’ve set myself a target of 100 posts in 12 months, which you can track on the Stats Page

Here’s to the next 12 months. Let’s see how it goes.
